Focus on Your Recovery. We'll Handle the Claim.

Direct WorkSafeBC billing and reporting from our Kitsilano clinic, since 1994

A workplace injury leaves you with two jobs: getting better, and keeping up with your WorkSafeBC claim. At West 4th Physiotherapy, we take the second one off your plate. We bill WorkSafeBC directly and handle all of the reporting your claim requires, so your appointments stay focused on your recovery.

Not every Vancouver clinic accepts WorkSafeBC claims, because the reporting is more involved than most insurance. We have treated work injuries from our Kitsilano clinic at 4th and Vine since 1994, and our admin team manages the claim side every day. Every visit is one-on-one with a registered physiotherapist in a private treatment room.

How Your WSBC Physiotherapy Coverage Works

You need an approved claim first.
Before your first visit, you will need an accepted WorkSafeBC claim, your claim number, and the name of your case manager. If you have not reported your injury yet, start with your employer and WorkSafeBC.

Treatment is approved in blocks of 16 visits.
A standard WorkSafeBC physiotherapy block is 16 visits over roughly two to three months. Our team tracks your visit count and dates, so your block does not run out without warning.

We do the billing and reporting.
West 4th bills WorkSafeBC directly for your approved treatment. Your physiotherapist completes the progress reports WorkSafeBC requires and keeps your case manager informed throughout your care.

If you need more than 16 visits.
Your physiotherapist shares their assessment of your progress with your case manager, who decides whether further treatment is approved. We will let you know well before your current block ends.

Work Injury Care From Physiotherapists With Advanced Post-Graduate Training

Every physiotherapist at West 4th holds advanced post-graduate qualifications. Clinical director Matt Powell (Dip. Physiotherapy NZ, FCAMPT, Gunn IMS) brings more than 40 years of experience in orthopaedics, sports injury, and IMS. Marj Belot (MSc, FCAMPT, CAFCI) has practised for over 38 years and holds Level 2 IMS dry needling certification.

Some workplace injuries include a head injury. Four of our physiotherapists have advanced concussion training, including two SHIFT Concussion Management Level 2 practitioners, Marj Belot and Suzanne Calli. See our concussion recovery page for details, or read more about physiotherapy for work injuries in Kitsilano.

Step 3: Treatment and Reporting

Treatment is one-on-one in a private room. We send the reports WorkSafeBC requires and keep track of your visit block, so you are not chasing paperwork between appointments.

Working Toward a Safe Return to Work

WorkSafeBC physiotherapy aims to get you back to your job, and the rest of your day, with less risk of re-injury. Your plan is built around the physical demands of your work, whether that means lifting, standing on a job site, or long hours at a desk.

Many people see gains in movement, strength, and day-to-day comfort over a treatment block. Recovery timelines vary from person to person, and your physiotherapist will keep you and your case manager up to date on your progress. In keeping with Matt Powell's approach, you will also learn how to lower the chance of the next injury.
